Psalm 74

July 17    Psalm 74

In verse 8 we see that the enemies of Israel would tear down the places where God met with His people.  They would seek to either destroy or ransack the temple or the tabernacle.  There was a though that if they could destroy the place, they could destroy the relationship with God.   But God is not bound by buildings or places.  If we are seeking God, we will find Him no matter where we are at.  

In some countries people will burn down church buildings.  They will try to destroy the church by taking down physical structures.  This does not succeed because the church is not the building, but the people. These people will gather in the parking lot if they can't go into a building.   It would be horrible to watch the place we worship destroyed.  But the God we worship cannot be destroyed. People may try to inhibit or disturb our ability to worship God, but nobody can ever truly stop us from worshipping our God.
