Verse 10-12
Our lives are truly in God's hands. We don't exist without God. Our life is a gift from Him and the best use of that gift is to life it for Him. Two the things about the future stand out.
1.) Nothing catches God by surprise. While we speculate and worry about tomorrow, God already see tomorrow. While we fret about what could happen, God knows exactly what will happen. This should build in us a stronger faith and dependence on God. Take comfort in the fact that God knows what is coming and He will get us through.
2.) We should not keep putting off for tomorrow what we know we should be doing in our lives. How many people plan to start eating healthy next Monday- yet when Monday comes, they push it off to the next Monday. People know there is changes that needs to be made in their life, but they delay it until the New Year and a fresh start. We should not delay in doing what we know we should do.
Here is another thing that happens. We let yesterday determine today. Maybe we set out on the right path to make a change or do something good. We for example decide we are going to do a Bible in a Year Plan. We read the first couple of days in a row and mark them off the checklist. Then we miss a day for some reason. A lot of people give up on the plan because they didn't do it perfectly. A lot of people will let the choice or failure of yesterday compound into today. Don't let yesterday's failure keep you from opening your Bible today.
Maybe it was you were trying to eat healthier. Well yesterday you ate Wendy's and now today- what do you decide to do. Choose differently today and get back on track or just go forward with the attitude of I messed up my healthy eating plan yesterday so why bother with it today. (I can confess that when my wife was in Michigan I had a plan to eat fairly healthy and cook at home, yet one Door Dash order turned into another) My point is this- we should not put off for tomorrow what we should do today. We also should not let yesterday keep us from doing what we should today.
