Verse 3 is really interesting. Moses seems like he is losing this contest with Pharaoh because the people have not been set free. Quite the opposite has been happening. The people of Egypt look with favor upon the people Israel. Moses was given a high level of respect from Pharaoh's officials the people of Egypt.
This is a great reminder to us that in every dispute, contest, argument or fight there is an audience. Moses may not be getting through to Pharaoh, but those around who are watching what is happening are started to look upon Moses and in turn God with favor. They are starting to see the correctness of Moses even though Pharaoh can only say that he is wrong. Moses is winning an audience and crowd towards the LORD.
Pharaoh is losing people's respect by his stubbornness and doesn't realize or care. Sometimes, like Moses, we have to stand up against people who are opposing the truth. We need to stand up for what is right. When you have to stand up for what is right don't forget others will see how you handle yourself. They will look and see how you will present truth. They will see how you handle insults, accusations, and angry rhetoric that is nothing but lies. You may not convince the person you thought you were talking to about the truth, but who knows what impact you are having on those around you about how you handle yourself. Always remain confident and firm in the truth; the truth should always be spoken in love.
