King Cyrus was not Jewish. However, God used Cyrus to accomplish His purposes for the people. It says, "The LORD put into the mind of King Cyrus". This is a good reminder of the importance of praying for our leaders. God can use them for His good purposes sometimes without them even realizing it. God can give good wisdom to leaders for the sake of the people. God even worked in Cyrus life to return the items from the Temple that Nebuchadnezzar had taken.
God can still use leaders in the world today for good purposes. He can use people who are not Christians to still fulfill the outcomes that He desires. Ultimately, even the Kings and Rulers of this world sit under God's authority. Let us pray for our leaders. The ones we voted for and the ones we did not vote. The ones we agree with and the ones we disagree with. We pray for our leaders because we are putting them into the hands of God who truly knows what is right and good and best for the people. We should always be praying that God puts good and right ideas into their hearts and minds.
