Galatians 4:4-7

The first hint of Jesus was given in Genesis 3. Jesus finally shows up in the Christmas story thousands of years later. Why did Jesus come when he did? Because that was when God in his infinite wisdom said that the time was right. There was preparation and prophecies. There was waiting and expecting. The time had fully come and Jesus showed up into the world. The people did not have the knowledge of the date of when he would arrive. It was not something that they could mark on their calendars. We also are not given the date when he is coming back.

This is a reminder to us that God knows what He is doing even if we are not aware. God's plan was carrying out leading up to Jesus, it was clearly carried out in Jesus, and His plan is still at work today. When we pray we may want to put a date and time on God's work. What we know is that He will always work right on time. He has never been early and He has never been late.
