Oct. 6 Genesis 1
We need to not forget where we came from. If you listen to some people we came from apes. I look at Genesis 1 and say that we didn't come from apes, but rather we came from the creative work of a God who made everything. There is so much proof of design in our world that it is hard to explain it away. When we see design we need to know that there was a designer. If we are going to truly appreciate and understand the design we have got to know who made it and what He intended for it. Genesis 1 sets the foundation of the rest of Scripture.
If you do not believe that Genesis 1 is true then you may not believe anything else in the Scripture is true. But if we accept Genesis 1 is true and we have a God who created everything, and He created it all of nothing by simply saying the word--- then you better look carefully at the rest of the pages of Scripture. Genesis 1 sets the tone because if God can create something out of nothing He can do anything and we can trust His ability when we pray. We also know that His Word is powerful and so the Bible as God's Word- must be studied and preached faithfully and correctly.
Lastly, we need to find our identity in God. God created male and female. This is a good thing. His intention for our lives is not for us to make up what we want to be. His intention for our lives is for us to discover who God made us to be. Being born a man or woman is not a problem to be solved, but rather it is a design to be embraced and discover what it means to be a man or woman of God. Let there be no confusion- there are two genders (male and female) and these are not mere social constructs, but rather they are purposeful and good design of God. Our world will be a better place when we stop adding gender options to the list and fully embrace the 2 that God has designed.
