Joseph's brothers were suspicious that Joseph may turn on them after Jacob dies. This makes sense probably coming from their own hearts. They are probably thinking if I was Joseph then this is what I would do. They shouldn't have an attitude of revenge on Joseph simply because he received special attention from their father. Imagine how they feel about people who really do them wrong. Joseph reassures them,
but I wonder if that sense of suspicion ever truly left them.
Joseph saw things differently. He didn't dwell on the actions of his brothers as much as the work of God. It is easier to forgive others and move on with our lives when we focus on God rather than the wrongs done to us. By no means did God instruct his brothers to treat him this way, but God can take bad choices and bring about good outcomes. People make messes, but our God performs miracles.
