Genesis 8

In this section we are reminded that there is a storm and there is a flood. God said it would rain for 40 days and 40 nights. That was the storm. The rain stopped, but the flood remained for much longer than those 40 days. In total Noah was on the Ark for well over 300 days. 40 Days and 40 Nights was the rainstorm- hundreds of days of aftermath remained.

In life we may go through storms. We need to be patient and remember that even after God stops the rain, there may be more time needed for the flood to recede. The cause of the problems may have been dealt with, but the effects of the problem may take longer to recover. God will get us through both the storm and the flood.
