This is passage shows us the overlap of two miracle babies. John the Baptist the baby of a barren woman who was too old for a child. Baby Jesus- the child of a young virgin. God had a powerful hand in each of these children's lives from before they were held in their mothers' arms. Before Zechariah or Joseph could hold those little baby hands, these children were already firmly in the hands of God.
Jesus
and John the Baptist are already at work even before their birthday. John leaps for joy as a witness in his mother's womb. Jesus was no less the Messiah in Mary's womb as he was when laid in a manger. Babies matter long before their birthdays. It reminds me of what David wrote in the Psalm 139:
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
We must protect and respect the life of the baby in womb and not interfere with God's good work in their life.
