Our parents had a lot of wisdom to share. It just takes some time for kid to realize it was wise. When we are young and need wisdom we tend to think we know it all. It is usually when we are older that we begin to appreciate the wisdom we have been taught. We begin to realize that mom and dad knew what they were talking about. Keep sharing the wisdom you have with your kids even if it doesn't seem like they are not listening or don't want to hear it. They may not appreciate it today, but I am sure they will someday.
We also need to understand that discipline is love when it comes to children. Holding kids accountable and giving consequences for disobedience is actually loving. It may feel easier sometimes to just let things slide and just make them happy. We all want happy kids. But kids need parents, not just bigger older friends. God gave parents authority and responsibility to train up their children in the right way. If you don't teach your kids, somebody will and you won't like what they learn. Hold your kids accountable and teach them what is right. You may at times hear those dreaded words "I hate you" when you provide discipline, but through the tough days they will learn to respect you and when they get older and wiser they will love you for it.
