Verse 3 says: "The eyes of the Lord are everywhere,
keeping watch on the wicked and the good." This verse is both encouraging and challenging to us. It is encouraging because it reminds us of God's concern and care for each of us. He knows where we are and what we are going through. He knows where we have come from and where we are going. He sees things about our lives before we even begin to see them. It is an encouragement to know that I am never away from God's sight and mind.
The challenging part of this is in knowing that there is nothing we can hide from God. When we sin and get into bad patterns in our lives, we may do well at hiding it from other people. We may live a long time with people complete unaware of the shameful things that we hide from others. You can't fool God though. You can't make bad choices without Him being aware. You can't pretend to be a good Christian when it comes to God.
Here is the consideration we must have. We can work hard to cover our sins from the world. Our we can do the hard work of repentance and overcoming our sins. Overcoming our sins is the only thing that makes since because the one who will hold us accountable for our sins is already well aware of what is going on in our lives. We also need to remember that forgiveness and grace is available. So yes, God see all things, but his desire is to forgive and fix our lives not merely to condemn us for our sins. Bring your sins before God in confession and remember that you never tell Him something that He doesn't already know.
