Notice that the sayings of King Lemuel are things that his mother taught him. He remembers the wise sayings his mother. There are two ways this may go. Mom gave good wisdom and her words kept you from trouble. Sometimes though mom gives good wisdom, but we find out how smart it was after we decided to ignore initially. As parents we sometimes have sit-down moments of teaching life principles to our kids. A lot of what we teach as parents is simply what our kids observe and hear on a daily basis. Kids are always listening, always watching, always learning. We must be wise in what we say and do. We must also be sure in being deliberate in teaching Biblical values. Moms don't underestimate the value of the influence and power your words and your example have on your children.
Verse 10-31 describe the wife of noble character. A lot of attention in the Proverbs is given regarding the types of women to avoid and what to look out for. Now we are told what type of woman honors God. This is now the positive- the character traits that stand out and should be praised. I am thankful for the many women in my family and in our church who exemplify this type of character.
