Proverbs 9 again reminds us that fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. A proper understanding of God puts everything into place. Wisdom adds to our lives. It suggests number of days added to our lives. I think wisdom helps add to our lives not by just number of days, but by quality of days. When we live wisely, we begin to also truly appreciate the days we have. We begin to see life as a gift more and more and in turn begin to live with gratitude each day we have been given. Wisdom helps us to see troubles in life as not the end of our story, but rather obstacles for God to work through for us and we rely on Him instead of our selves. We may even begin to realize that my troubles today will become my testimony of God's faithfulness and goodness tomorrow.
Verse 1 talks about seven pillars. The number seven represents completion in Scripture. Wisdom is full and complete and available. The wisdom of God lacks nothing. There is no situation that arises that wisdom cannot guide us through. There is no question too difficult that wisdom cannot answer. Wisdom comes from God who knows all things, sees all things, and holds all things together.
