Psalm 100
This Psalm includes a familiar phrase: "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise". This been made into a familiar worship song we have sung over the years. The reality is that this is simply telling us to approach God with gratitude and thankfulness. We come to the LORD with praise. Do your prayers reflect this. Instead of praise do we often bring complaints? Instead of gratitude do we bring only what we are not happy about?
The Psalms show us that we can have a mixture of heartache and gratitude and joy in the presence of God. We can be honest about our needs and at the same time express gratitude to God for what we have. We should enter God's presence with gratitude in simply being welcomed into His presence. We can be thankful because the LORD is good and His love endures. Even when we bring our deepest needs and our broken hearts to God, we still bring our praise along with it as well.
