August 28 Psalm 116
Verse 15 is a comfort in the face of loss. When a loved one dies, we call it a loss. I have lost a loved one we may say. That is because God has designed us with the ability to deeply love and care for someone. It is a loss for us because someone was such an important part of our lives. At the same time, we experience loss, we also experience hope because we know they are not truly lost. In fact, what we call loss is actually great gain for our loved one.
God's love and concern for us never ends. When we close our eyes on Earth and open them in Heaven one day we were always in the hands of God. We mourn for those who pass away not for their sake, but for ours. We mourn the loss of spending time with them in our presence. But at the same we rejoice and celebrate that they are now spending time in God's presence- whole, healed, and happy.
