Sept. 7 Psalm 122
In your Bible you may notice that it says: "Psalm of Ascent". This is a Psalm that people may sing on their journey to Jersualem for special religious holidays. They would be traveling into Jerusalem for worship, but as they would travel, they would worship. In many ways they were prepared for their time of worship in Jerusalem by getting their focus right by worshipping on their journey there.
This leads to a thought today- do we come to worship services prepared for worship? In our preparation for church, we can get in a hurry. If you have children, it can be a challenge to get everyone ready and out the door. Is there a way to add worship to our preparation for worship? Can we get our focus on God even in the midst of the busyness of Sunday morning? How much can we learn in Sunday school if we are already focused? How much more can we get out of the service if worship does not begin with the prelude on the piano but has already been started in our hearts long before we walked into church.
