September 11 Psalm 126
Today is a tough day in many ways in this country. 24 years ago, planes hijacked by evil people crashed were used as weapons to kills many people. Just yesterday an evil act happened to kill a young Christian man who was hosting an event to have conversations and discuss his views. Earlier this week there was the story out of Charlotte of a young woman in this country who was stabbed to death on bus for by a stranger for no reason. The world has always been a dark place; we just happened to catch it all on camera and share it with the world.
Psalm 126 talks about God restoring the people of Israel. It describes a time of going from tears to rejoicing because God took care of them. Evil is not going away, but neither is our God. Evil will continue to spread darkness in this world. Followers of Jesus need to shine the light even more now than ever. We need to stand up for the Truth of God's Word while remembering to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. In midst of confusing and dark days we must turn our eyes to the LORD. We must pray that He can even take what was meant for evil and bring good out of it somehow. The LORD has done and will do great things for us. We cannot lose sight of the LORD in the midst of chaos. We cannot let fear of those who may be evil prevent us from being the good that God calls us to be. Always remember darkness can only remain for as long as the light does not appear. If we are getting sick of the darkness, we need to start shining the light as God directs.
Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21)
