May 14 Psalm 11
"The Lord is in His holy temple." This is a reminder to us that God is perfect. He is holy. He is a strong refuge because He has never been compromised. He has never indulged in sin. He has never given into temptation. This points to the fact that the one we run to for help will always be the same. We also know that He will never turn on us. Some of David's enemies were once people he considered to be friends or at least friendly towards. Even King Saul once had David as a help by playing music for him and defeating Goliath. However, Saul would eventually turn on David and a lot of it was related to jealousy at the recognition David was receiving. Unlike people, we never have to worry that God will turn on us or end up going against us because He is holy, He is honest, and He is unchanging.
"The LORD's throne is in Heaven" is a strong statement to acknowledge that God is not a king in the world, but He is king over the world. The reign of earthly kings is temporary, but the rule of God is eternal. The authority of earthly kings may seem unlimited, but it absolutely is finite because they are accountable to the King of Kings.
