April 22 Revelation 17
John makes reference to what appears to be Rome in this section. Rome in the time of John was increasingly becoming incredible hostile towards Christianity. There are some interesting moral comparisons between Rome and our current day in America. Some of the moral decisions we see being made today are quite similar to the time of Jesus and the early church. The Gospel was good news then and it still is today.
Verse 14 is a reminder that no matter how evil things get, no matter how crazy the world becomes in the end Jesus wins.
14 They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”
Jesus is Lord of lord and King of Kings. We are on the winning side. Hang in there in the difficult times. The battles may be tough, but the victory is secured in Jesus Christ.
