Psalms 72
July 15 Psalm 72
This Psalm is attributed to King Solomon. Solomon's life gives us a great example of what happens when focused on God. Early on Solomon was dependent on God. He sought wisdom and God richly blessed Solomon. The kingdom was thriving and people from all over the world were coming to hear from Solomon. In the areas where Solomon put his eyes on God there was great success.
Sadly, Solomon did not follow God's wisdom and commands in all areas of his life. His personal life was a bit of a mess as he had many wives and a lot of them were not Jewish. This was in direct violation of God's expectations. The area where he did not focus on God's way became a great struggle and led to trouble. It is important to note that we are not called to focus on God only for most areas of our lives. We need to focus on God in all areas of our lives. In due time the one area that we are not focused on God will start to negatively impact the other areas of our life. We are called to love God with ALL our heart, soul, mind, and strength. That means we don't have any area where we can love ourselves or our own wisdom more than we love God.
