June 25 Psalm 53
Denying the existence of God is a foolish proposition. It is foolish because it ignores the evidence for the existence of God- creation, life itself, morality and Christ. It is also foolish because there are not true benefits to not having a relationship with God. Not believing in God may allow people to do whatever they want to do but is that really a good thing. I would suggest that our lives and the world are a better place because of people following God's moral standards. To believe that all we have is this life on Earth and then we cease to exist will only lead us to confused purposes and a lack of hope. Belief in God is not merely a faithful leap into the dark, it is a wise conclusion because it is the only thing that truly makes sense of the world. We absolutely have good reason to belief in God. What lacks reason is believing in a universe without God.
Some deny the existence of God because there is evil and suffering in the world. However, God's perfect world was corrupted by the decisions of man and what we see are the consequences. In truth, things are certainly not as bad as they could be or maybe we even say should be by the grace of God. Would the world really be better without God? I don't think anyone would want to see a world completely lacking God's grace or influence. The world would not be a better place if there were not Christians despite what some may want to believe. Besides, since God is the creator of the world I don't know even know how you get a world without Him.
