June 4 Psalm 32
There is joy in our salvation. We may regret our past mistakes. We may wish we could change things. But the truth is forgiveness should cause us rejoicing. We are blessed to find forgiveness in Jesus.
One of the lies of the Devil is try to steal the joy of our salvation. He tries to make us not feel the blessing of forgiveness as God desires to bring into our lives. He will try to get us stuck in the past. He will try to get us to not forgive ourselves. If God has forgiven us, then we must forgive ourselves. If God says we are moving on, we cannot stay stuck in the past. This takes the joy from our salvation- it makes us stuck in the sin and shame and not free in the forgiveness of our LORD. This is not to say that we take sin lightly or just ignore the past. Our testimony is about who we were and becoming a new creation in Jesus Christ. You don't have a testimony without a realization of sin in the past. You don't point people to hope in Jesus if your testimony does not move beyond the past to God's good work in your life in the present.
Don't forget to praise God for forgiveness and freedom from sin today. If you are struggling with forgiving yourself from past mistakes, put it all in God's hands and ask Him to help you move forward to what He is doing now.
Salvation is not about what you did, it is about what Jesus has done.
