Psalm 59
Psalm 59
(I will be traveling with the teens to LIFE tomorrow through July 9th. I will try to post if I am able, but the schedule is pretty busy. Please keep reading. I hope you have been enjoying reading the Psalms and are being blessed by the Word of God).
This Psalm bounces back and forth between David's enemies and David's relationship with God. He is honest about his feelings and how difficult his situation is. At the same time, he is abundantly clear that his trust is in God. David is not a coward and is not unwilling to stand up for himself, but the wisest thing he does is to seek God to fight his battles. David positions himself by obedience and trust in the LORD.
God will fight for us as well. It may not look like what we think it should. Man seeks revenge, God seeks justice. It may not happen even when we want. Sometimes God lets the battle prolong longer than we ever would because he sees the outcomes of us being "battle tested" in the moment. David's concerns and difficulties turns to praise in verse 16. Trusting in God should always lead to praise of God. If you are going through a tough time today- seek the refuge of the LORD.
