Psalm 103

August 15    Psalm 103

We can never comprehend how great God's love is for us.  We can experience it.  We can know that He loves us.  However, His love for us so great we will never be able to fully grasp the depth of this love.

We also know that His forgiveness is great as well. When it says "as a far as the east is from the west" in the Scripture, it shows us that when God forgives, He truly forgives.  He does not keep it in His back pocket to hold against us again.  He doesn't keep bringing it up over and over to make us feel guilty.  When He forgives, He truly takes our guilt away.

We need to follow His example when we forgive others.  Learning to forgive as the LORD forgives will help us to truly become free of subtle bitterness that still dwell in places of partial forgiveness.  We also need to learn to forgive ourselves.  If God says we are forgiven, why should we live like we are not?  If God separates our sin from us, then why should we hold on to guilt and shame? If God says you are forgiven, then you are forgiven. Don't try to talk yourself back into feelings of guilt when we should be joyful in the grace of God.
