November 1, 2024–Pastor Bill’s Reading Plan
November 1 1 Corinthians 11
This section comes right before we take communion this coming Sunday at church. Why is it important for examination? Because we cannot take lightly what the bread and the cup mean. When we examine our hearts, we are taking it to mind and examining if the sacrifice of Christ is truly impacting our daily living. Gratitude is not just shown in taking the bread and cup and saying a prayer of thanks. What the cup and bread represent is both forgiveness for sin and freedom from sin. We need to demonstrate both in our lives.
We examine our hearts to see if we are truly pursuing God's way of living or if we keep crawling back to sin. We examine our hearts and remember what our freedom cost Christ and we seek to honor that sacrifice daily by living for Him. It is not merely a matter of examining to see if you are doing bad things that you shouldn't. It is an examination to see if you are truly living out the fullness of what Christ has to offer us at the cross. Communion is coming Sunday, but I would encourage you to examine your hearts even now.
