July 26   Psalm 83
There has been opposition to God's plans and will since the Fall.  Cain in rebellion to God's way chose to murder his brother. The people of Israel constantly faced opposition.  Jesus was constantly being challenged by the religious leaders.  There are still challenges to our Christian faith today.
  Here is the good and hopeful news.  No matter what challenges come against God, His Word, or His people- He is still the undefeated champion of the universe.  We can stand firm in our faith because we are absolutely confident that we are on the winning side.  In America we have been blessed with a great deal of freedom as believers.  In other places to simply go to church is a risk.  Whether what we face is ridicule or imprisonment for our faith it feels hard in the moment of decision to stand for Jesus or back down.  We know how the story ends- Jesus wins!  That is the hope we have in challenging circumstances. We should boldly stand up for Jesus because he laid down His for us- then he stood up 3 days later and walked out of the tomb.
