Psalm 87
July 30 Psalm 87
This Psalm looks forward to living in God's presence for all of eternity. This future look towards Heaven gives us hope when we mourn the loss of those who die but have a relationship with Jesus. It gives us hope when we see chaos in the world and remember that this is not our home. We should look forward to Heaven but not forget that God has a reason and a purpose for us in the here and now.
We should live our lives in such a way that our understanding of Heaven shapes our living today. This world is not a waiting room to simply wait out our lives until we get to Heaven. The world is our mission field where we are called to serve the LORD diligently and daily so that our todays can truly have eternal significance. We look forward to living with the LORD one day, but don't forget we are called to walk with the LORD today.
